Komodo – Paradise Lost?

November 2nd - 9th

Trip Theme

The Komodo National Park is one of the most awe-inspiring locations in the coral triangle, with its majestic scenery and powerful waters – divers really are treated some exceptional sights.

Unfortunately, Komodo in recent years has become a victim of its own success with more and more tourists straining the area and unchecked illegal fishing within the park has a huge impact.

The purpose of our DRP tour to this location will be to understand in more detail, what is currently threatening this incredible dive location and what conservation efforts are underway to help combat these.

Our Hosts

Our hosts for this 8 day, 7-night safari will be the fantastic team at Wunderpus. Ed Statham has been working in Komodo for over 7 years and has built up an incredible insight into Komodo, its threats and how this can be combatted going forward. Having recently featured in an article in the Guardian, Ed is passionate about the preservation of the National park and ensuring this will be around for future generations.

The Tour

The Tour is scheduled for 8 days/7 nights. November is at the tail end of the season and is one of the best times to see Komodo and potentially access some of the more remote locations including southern Komodo.

The Safari will be focused on finding both the big creatures such as mantas, sharks, mobulas, whales and the small with abundant macro sites available.

As part of the tour, guests will be working with the Wunderpus and DRP team to experience the majesty of the site but understand its current fragility and what can be done to combat this.
